The new design has landed

Welcome to my new website. After a lot of work, I’m finally up and running with the new design. I’ve still got to do a few tweaks, like uploading a new photo on the home page, but it’s more or less done.

In the new design, I’ve dedicated the front page to explaining who I am to people who don’t know me, so the blog now appears on a separate page. If you rely on a bookmark, please update it toย https://andrewblackman.net/blog. Things like RSS feeds and email subscriptions won’t be affected, of course.

I’ve simplified the structure and removed a lot of sidebars and options, so some of the old pages don’t have a home. If you really want to read an alphabetical list of all the books I’ve reviewed on this site, you can still find it here, but there’s no menu option for it. I think it was always more of an outlet for my inner librarian than a particularlyย useful feature anyway.

I’ve also tried to make the site more friendly to those of you using tablets and mobiles, and just easier to read in general, because I’m planning to writeย slightly longer, essay-type posts sometimes. If you notice anything that looks odd or that isn’t working properly, please either leave a comment here orย send me an email,ย and I’ll do my best to fix it!

    1. Thanks Marita! Yes, it’s going well, thanks. How is yours going? And do you think you might get back to blogging, or have you stopped? I always enjoyed your entries, but I know it can be a lot of work to keep it up!

  1. The new design looks like, Andrew! Congratulations! Looking forward to reading your posts and thoughts this year – especially your essay-length posts ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I appreciate it, Vishy! Have been wanting to write some longer stuff, but I know it can be hard for people to read longer stuff onlineโ€”I struggle with it myself. So am trying to get the balance right. I’ve got a backlog of book reviews to get through in the meantime!

    1. Thanks Jennifer! Hope you’ll like the new one too. I want something that blends in a bit more with the design of the site, maybe a transparent background. We’ll see ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you like the new site.

  2. Love the new look. It’s very clean and straightforward. I updated my site about a year ago so I can appreciate how much work goes into an overhaul like this. I clicked through a few of the navigation links and everything is working. I’m looking forward to reading future posts.
