It was wonderful the other night to see the Luke Bitmead Bursary awarded for a third year, this time to Sophie Duffy for The Generation Game. The prize is £2,500 and a publishing contract with Legend Press. I didn’t get to talk to Sophie at the event, but I did speak to several of the runners-up and of course Luke’s mum Elaine and sister Tiffany.
In case you haven’t heard of the Luke Bitmead Bursary, check out the website. If you’re an unpublished writer, definitely enter next year’s contest. It’s how I got my break and became a published author, and I can highly recommend it. If not, please consider donating or buying Luke’s books – all royalties go to the Memorial Fund. You can also see the text of Elaine’s wonderful speech from the other night.
Congratulations Sophie! I look forward to reading The Generation Game.
